Cosmetic Dentistry Services available in Emerald and Blackwater
Tooth whitening brightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can greatly improve how your teeth look, without buildups or crowns.
Teeth Whitening (Take Home)
There are many reasons teeth discolour including medicines, smoking, coffee, tea, certain foods and natural aging. Tooth whitening is the best option to safely lighten discoloured teeth.
The Take Home Whitening Kits are great as they are cost & time effective and you also control the level of brightness and can stop when you are happy with the result. Take Home Whitening involves taking moulds of your teeth and making a thin tray, similar to a mouthguard that holds the bleaching gel onto your teeth. The tray is placed into the mouth for a least two hours a day or overnight. You keep bleaching daily until you are happy with the results.
Before commencing tooth whitening it is important to check your teeth for any holes which will need fixing before you start. Over time due to lifestyle habits and food/beverage intakes (red wine), the process may need to be redone periodically. The tooth whitening process is safe and we have 'top up' kits available.
A Veneer is a layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect the tooth's surface from damage. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer: composite and dental porcelain.
Crowns are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented onto existing teeth or implants by a dentist or prosthodontist. Crowns are used most commonly to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth or cover an implant. They are cemented to natural teeth or implants surrounding the space where the tooth structure once stood. In addition to strengthening a damaged tooth, crowns can be used to improve a tooth’s appearance and shape.
Bridges are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented onto existing teeth or implants by a dentist or prosthodontist. Bridges are commonly used to cover a space if you’re missing one or more teeth. They are cemented to natural teeth or implants surrounding the space where the tooth once stood. In addition to strengthening a damaged tooth, bridges can be used to improve a tooth’s appearance and shape.
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
Composite Bonding Build Ups
Composite is used to “build up” and replace the lost tooth structure using Composite Resin to improve function and aesthetics. Composite is a tooth coloured material.
Cerec Same Day Crowns
Cerec Same Day Crowns is simply the name of a computerised system that we use here at Emerald Dental Group. It manufactures crowns, veneers or natural looking restorations to replace large fillings. The end result is a natural tooth coloured restoration which looks and feels like a normal tooth which is bonded to the existing or remaining tooth structure.
The advantage to our patients is that these computerised restorations are made in-house in as little as two hours and all in the same day.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are another method of an indirect restoration used for repairing teeth that are moderately damaged. Likewise to crowns, they are intended to give more stability to a tooth than a filling generally can. Usually made from gold or porcelain, inlays and onlays provide superior resistance to force and stronger protection against tooth decay.
